Lights are installed and wired. Easier than I thought. Decided not connect to battery power rather than to accessory power. Just means I have to switch on the KCs separately from the headlights. I won’t show you how I tucked the wiring because it is NOT clean looking. Zip ties are everywhere. There’s probably an extra 3 feet of wiring hidden under the dash.

There’s a lot of movement on the bumper, so I’ll need to come up with some bracing from the subframe to the bumper to reduce that “jiggle”. Overall, I am happy with my choice. Although I wish I could get some smiley face covers to go over the grilled covers. Did the most research on this component more than any other thing done to this van. Now, what to do next?!

If you try to brace it back to the subframe...then don't crash.

How about installing projector headlights? Did the European-market version Transit come with projectors? I know a handful of FiST owners were importing German-market headlights so they could have factory projectors.

It would probably be a stiff plastic. Nothing extremely strong, just something to secure the bumper a little more.

I am not sure about that. Never looked in to it. A quick google doesn’t yield too much info. Seems like if TC owners convert to projectors, they buy the conversion kits and install it into the stock housing.

Clearly the answer is more lights......

Kinja'd!!!

And a snorkel, snorkels make everything better ;)

Snorkel would take me out of stock class, otherwise I’d be drilling my hood already.

Roof lights are an idea. All of the lights

How would a snorkel hooked to your stock intake take you out of stock class?

SCCA be weird.

The only modification you can do is change the filter. Any routing or modification to the stock airbox bumps you in to prepared. I even asked if I could remove the anemic air hose from the grill to the airbox, no dice

I have seen these mounting bars getting remounted by removing the bumper and drilling out the licence plate screw holes right through the bumper. Then using long bolts and mudguard washers to attach the mount solidly to the bumper...how solidly depends on the quality and volume of polystyrene in the bumper. Don’t, whatever you do, attach the mount ( through the bumper) into the vehicle subframe...

Oh yeah, that won’t happen. I’m thinking more of a wedge between the subframe and the bumper. There’s about 6-8 inches of gap between the two. Make it out of a plastic or something, so if I crash, it just gets crushed, and not piercing through the subframe.

Yes, more lights = more better

Kinja'd!!!

Gotta go for the full rally car look now. I stopped the jiggle by putting 2 rivnuts into the bumper bar itself.

Love it!!! I had that same exact bar for my smart a few years ago. Ended up throwing it away because I couldn’t stop it from jiggling. It also started rusting pretty quickly which left a stain on the bumper . The lights are now just directly mounted.

I’ll eventually upgrade to a solid bull bar. But for a quick setup, this bar was $20; the average bull bar is $200-$ 300

All. The. Lights.

Also, odd modification for a Citroen 2CV... but alright.

Instead of roof lights (my god the glare!) mount them by the side mirrors like a dakar car. Plus you don’t lose precious vehicle height for parking garages. Come to think of it, I’ve lost quite a few auxiliary lights...

Name checks out. lol

Considering both. Dakar or roof lights. Still need to dial in these first and see how they hold next RX weekend.

Rumor has it you can see this vehicle from space.

Imagine the amperage draw on that thing!

Thank you! The light bar made it a little tougher to get the skid plate on, but nothing an angle grinder couldn’t fix!

I counted 32 lights, and 4 different light variations. I started doing the math, but couldn’t find any accurate lamps to compare these to online. They’re certainly not KC lights, the only ones I could deduce were the 4 stock headlamps on either side.

However, most rally lights are pretty powerful. 12V 100 Watt lights. So I’d take a guess that the average amperage of 26 Rally Lights (this doesn’t include the 4 regular looking headlamps and the 2 smaller ones on the bottom) is about 216, plus whatever amps the 4 headlights and 2 bottom lights produce.

I’d guess that in all you’re looking at 225 amps.

In short, i t takes about a 4th of  a car battery to power all those. So technically you could hook all those to your car battery... just don’t do that for long...
